Fall Splendor

Fall splendor might be a little strong. Here are some photos of the landscaping. The Copper Canyon Daisies are soon to peak.

Here you can see the Blue Muly has grown to over six feet in height. In front of it the Red Mexican Sage is done for the season. Toward the back, Copper Canyon Daisies, Mexican Bush Sage.

The Crepe Mrytles are losing their leaves and going dormant. The Rosemary is always green. Eventually I'll get a good mix of drought resistant, deer resistant plants that will provide color year round. This is where I found the Western Diamond Back, under the Copper Canyon Daisy near the Agave Cactus.

This is a new area of plantings started late summer and fall. A little hard to see in this photo. Each plant/shrub has a rock base/planter filled with mulch.

Wow. It's really looking nice! I really thing the whole place is perfect for you.

One thought on the rattler though -- perhaps you should get a smaller gun in case you have to do that again. Are you still really dry?

We got some rain in August. Now we are dry again. No rain in the future.

Things are looking good in your yard Dave. What's next in the overall design plan?
My yard is now very wet, muddy and unworkable. Green things are starting to grow. Oh well, you'll have to come visit in the spring!

Wow, it's looking great!
My mom will be needing your help again soon. We should all attack the backyard over the summer, make can make a party out of it, Caiprinhas on me.

There is another area I'm working on. The trees directly across the drive from the front porch. I plan to add some more large grass. I've already put in Texas Sage, some Rosemary, and some Salvia Greggi. Sunday I trimmed trees for cover and opened up another area cutting back the cedars.

I hope to get a strip of buffalo grass started around the back patio.

Thanks for your comments, Lyd and Linda. I may be up for a work trip to SR next summer - a plane ticket might add to my motivation as I'd be sweatin' it up out in the California sun. Don't forget the Caiprinhas.
