Visit with Aunt Lois

by Cherie

On Thursday, May 28, Janet, Charli and I took a little field trip north to Lake City. Neither of us had seen Lois since she, Willy (her second husband), her sister Shirley and brother-in-law Art had driven down for visit several years ago.

We had beautiful weather that day, warm and sunny, but not uncomfortable. We arrived in Lake City just in time for lunch, and we all walked downtown. Art and Shirley happened to be visiting, so we got to see them again, too.

On our way back to Lois' to chat after lunch, we stopped in the central square to take a few pictures. Charli, once again, served as photographer. She's got a pretty good eye -- better than me!

But, as Lois really enjoyed Charli's company, I made sure to get a picture with Charli in it. In fact, Lois told us to make sure Charli comes every time we visit.

Lois has a nice little home with enough space for visitors like Art and Shirley. And she's busy with church and social activities. While we were there, she had one friend drop by and a second check in by phone. She's an active lady.

Shortly before we left, Lois took us by to say "hello" to Jerry. Although we didn't stay long, he seemed to appreciate the visit. Lois says he's doing better.

Altogether, we had a great visit, and Janet and I think this may become an annual pilgrimage. Even Charli enjoyed the day with its wanderings and visits. We took the time to go through Lanesboro and find Grandma and Grandpa's home there. It's been nicely remodeled and added to. And we visited the cemetary in Glidden. With Lois' excellent directions, we found all the family graves easily.

We even took the scenic back roads Dad used to take up to Grandma's and discovered an odd little store out in the country northeast of Audubon. I wonder how long it will survive.

I'm looking forward to next May's trip to find out.
