Well everyone, my last year at Franklin is here. Can't believe it's already been a year since I ventured off to Switzerland, but this is the 5th and final year of my college undergrad, thank god.
I don't have much time to write as it's already the second week of classes, and as a senior, that means plenty of work, but I did want to share a few photos of my new apartment which resides between a pizza/pasta restaurant (one of the best in town might I add) and an Irish pub. Prime location near campus and I'm more than happy to be living here.
I'll be graduating in May with my BA in Environmental Studies. You're all invited to come to my graduation! Southern Switzerland in May is glorious.
This semester I have some pretty difficult classes: Intro to Environmental Science, German 100, Development Economics, Intro to International Relations and Intro to Statistics. I'll be going to Croatia to do community service work as my academic travel this semester, one that I'm really looking forward to.
Ok, more to come soon. Ciao!

Where do you fly in? Does Lugano have an airport? Maybe I'll do some checking on flights for May.
Nice apartment BTW. The pizza place sounds lovely.
Are you going to go work for Al Gore when you finish your degree?
Have a great school year.
David
What a lovely location and apartment! I hope it's a great year. Can't wait to see your pics of Croatia.
David- Lugano does have an airport. From my experience it's easiest to fly from Zurich to Lugano, but flying to the small airport here is somewhat costly, so I've always opted to fly into Milan and take a local shuttle into Lugano that drops you off at the train station.
I'm not sure about working for Al Gore when I'm done, but I'm open to anything really. I have interest in going to grad school but I think I'll take a year off and see how things go, if I can get a good job or whatnot. My plan is to stay in California.
More pics to come soon. We had our first travel meeting for Croatia today and went over some things we'll be doing. Mostly community service based projects in both eastern and western Croatia. Passing through Zagreb and smaller towns as well. A couple nights we'll be staying in a castle on the beach between projects, another day we'll get to go to one of the islands and pick up trash. I'm really excited and the more I learn about what I'll be embarking on the more excited I get.
Ok, I'm behind the times! Seems like I'd checked the blog several time recently & nothing new! Guess it wasn't that recent, eh?
Also didn't realize you'd be back in Lugano that early in August, Lydia.
I agree with David - your apartment this year is much nicer! Really pleasant and ktchen small but very inviting!
Sounds like an exciting year ahead; am sure you will make the most of it!
Ah, I wish I could say we'd be able to attend you graduation, but I'm afraid that's unlikely. Maybe I should start playing the lottery! Aunt Jan
