World Trade Center Memorial

The bottom of the new World Trade Center tower is in the background of this view of the South Tower  pool.  (The pools reflect the footprint and location of the two towers.)

Here are some of the names of the passengers on Flight 93 (Boston to SFO).  Mark Bingham was a gay  San Francisco man that was part of the group trying to rush the cockpit and regain control of the plane - "Let's roll".

Lauren Grandcolas was a San Rafael resident.  There is a small walkway off of 4th Street designated as  a memorial to her, "Lauren Place".

Once construction is through you will just be able to walk up to the site.  Currently it requires advanced tickets and the same sort of search as they perform at the airport.  (Kind of an ironic symmetry to  that, since 9/11 caused those procedures to be put in place.  You don't have to remove your shoes, however.)

Did anyone watch the report on 60 Minutes last evening about the Museum that is slated to open next year? David
