2009 Thanksgiving in San Francisco

For Thanksgiving this year Tom and I did a repeat of last year which was to meet our friends Keith and Lynette and feast on the Palace Hotel's buffet. The Palace is a very old, beautiful example of turn of the century architecture and design. The dining room has vaulted glass ceilings and exquisite columns with detail ornamentation. Here is a picture.

Afterwards we took a walk this to the Moscone Center area. Moscone Center is named after the former major of San Francisco who was murdered along with Supervisor Harvey Milk shortly after Tom and I moved here. Since the initial convention center was built much more has been added to this area of San Francisco. Here are some photos we took on our walk.

This is our San Francisco Modern Museum of Art.

Keith and I did not pose for this, didn't even realize the picture was being taken. We were studying the backside of the St. Patrick's Cathedral which was founded in 1851. The new Jewish Museum is directly behind us.

Behind the Martin Luther King walkway fountain looking through the water at what we refer to as the "Jutebox Marriot Hotel".
Looking across the open green to the front of St. Patrick's Cathedral.

Thanks for the tour of the lovely architechture in your fair city. I think these were not buildings we visitied when we came to visit in 02. I have a weakness for the turn of the century architecture. The central train station in Manhattan is another.
Hope your Thanksgiving Holiday was relaxing. Jan

Tom seems to have a knack for catching people in "posture".

I recall walking through the atrium area where you feasted for the second year in a row on lavish thanksgiving fare.

I have yet to experience a meal there. The light and the space are magnificent. I'll have to imagine it for now.

Enjoy your holiday, David
