Post Day 24

On Thursday, Aug. 9, the house movers came back and lowered the house onto the foundation.  Two new steel beams were shifted into place under the floor boards, and the house was then set atop the new foundation.  I took the following photos this weekend when we were out visiting with Mazey.

West side of the house with the old basement doorway, which will be taken  out.  The ladder is from Curt's unsuccessful attempt to get in the house.

In this view, you can clearly see that the new mudroom will be slightly larger than the old porch.

The new back entry to both the house and basement . . .

The view from the driveway

. . . and the front.

The two east "windows" will be under the front porch.  They are a result of the two huge beams upon which the house was raised.

The view through a north window across to the new basement entry and doorway to the storm room.

Same doorways, different view

So the plan this week is to get the subcontractors back in to work on the new mud room and entry, the roof, electrical, water and plumbing.  Depending on that schedule, Pinnacle will schedule the concrete contractor to come back and pour the basement floor.  We'll keep you posted.

Did they place any vertical posts or floor jack under the beams toward the center of the house?

Yes, two -- one under each beam. George helped Bill take care of that.

Looks like they started back filling around the foundation. Did they drop in any drain tile and pea gravel?

From reading your blog comments, cherie, I can see that it will be awhile yet till you are able to get back into your house. Jan

Regarding pea gravel and drain tile: yes to the pea gravel and tile. And it looks like a sump pump will go in the NE corner.
