I'm In!

Tom here adding to the mix.

We had a great time with David here, lots of touring and eating etc. I especially liked the museum tours with David there to provide the expert art history perspectives. We saw a Rembrandt, an El Greco, an..... an..... I mean all those old dudes!

Chez Panisse was quite a meal. Interestingly enough the space was comfortable, but not fancy. The restroom was just a restroom, no marble, and you had to walk past the kitchen to get there. The servers didn't introduce themselves, they just got on with making you comfortable and serving the food. And what food! Again not particulary fancy, just small portions, simple recipes, and wonderful flavors. As David said, "I'll never diss Duck again!" (we had sliced duck breast with chantarelles and a fig as the main course). As I took my first bite of the dessert, my first reaction was "How can something this simple be this good?" As I took my second bite I thought, "Only something this simple could be this good!" And it should be over a hundred $ a person with only one bottle of moderately priced wine for the table.

David paid us back by helping Linda start her backyard project. Too much like farming for me!

Go Obama! No Grampy McSame!

Cherie wants to know what was the dessert? You've piqued my curiosity.

It was a red wine-raspberry granita with Blossom Bluff Orchards peaches.

Kinda like raspberry shaved ice over peaches with a mascapone custard sauce. Of the Gods.
